Tim Pratt recently won an Award of Excellence from the Minnesota Association of
Government Communicators for his cover photo in the Nov/Dec 2001 Wrap. Comments
about the photo included "Excellent illustrative photo. Good effort in making the flag the
focal point without having it dominate. The judges like the choice of a low camera angle
and a deep depth of field that reveals the second flag in the background. Impressive
reproduction."
Although the Roseville Wrap did not receive an award, we received excellent feedback.
The comments included "Clear writing, good mix of topics. Lot of very practical info.
Nice type size for older readers. Banner is a bit kitschy but it works. Good use of color
and white space in the layout. You have tough competition. Good use of color in an
attractive City newsletter! Need more evidence of results - survey questions?"
Experts in the communications field judged the nominations.
3. Cost Comparisons to Other Cities
It is difficult to compare costs with other cities because newsletters vary in size, number
of pages and quality. In April staff conducted a cost survey of other city newsletters.
Survey results are attached.
4. Current Survey Results
In the most recent Wrap, we included a survey for residents to give us feedback about the
Wrap. More than 60 people responded. We have not tabulated a11 of the results, but
surveys indicate overwhelming support for the depth and breadth of the Wrap.
5. Responsiveness to Public's Request
Staff is open to story ideas and suggestions for ways to improve the Wrap. Residents and
other City employees suggest story ideas that are included in the Wrap. Some of the
most recent story suggestions included:
. Dog licensing
. Recycling Categories
. Expand City and local phone number section
. Code enforcement issues
