Regular City Council 1�Iinutes — 09/30/02 <br />DRAFT 1�Iinutes - Page 7 <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn again expressed his concern with city <br />personnel using company time, property and equipment to <br />further their political agendas. <br />City Manager Beets again requested that the petition be <br />read out loud. <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn asked City Manager Beets if he would <br />address the pager issue; with Mr. Beets responding <br />affirmatively. <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn provided City Manager Beets with the <br />petition to be read out loud, which Mr. Beets did at that <br />time. Summarizing, the petition's cover letter stated that, <br />as proud and dedicated members of the Roseville <br />Volunteer Fire Department, sacrificing family and leisure <br />time to risk lives and perform duties, were concerned <br />about the future or their department and the community as <br />a whole. The letter further stated, in summary, that while <br />the City continues to face many unknowns, in order to <br />meet these challenges, those signing the petition were <br />asking for the City Council's assistance, and respectfully <br />requested that Councilmembers come together by setting <br />their differences aside in order to allow the City of <br />Roseville to be a viable place to live and work. The cover <br />letter was accompanied by approximately 40 - 50 <br />signatures of fire department volunteer members. <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn questioned City Manager Beets <br />regarding the number of letters he estimated that City Hall <br />received written on city time and in city-owned facilities. <br />City Manager Beets responded that most letters received at <br />City Hall would come from residents, not from city <br />employees. City Manager Beets expressed admiration for <br />the solidarity shown by the department's personnel in <br />putting aside their differences in working toward a <br />common goal. <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn continued in the opinion that the letter <br />
