Bloom, Deb
From:
Sent:
To:
Subject
Brian McCann [brian.mccann@dnr.state.mn.us]
Monday, November 25, 2002 7:49 AM
deb.bloom@ci.roseville.mn.us
Hwy 280 Reconstruction Project - 2004-05
Ms. Bloom:
My read of the above proposal is that it is the best thing that's ever been proposed for
our isolated little neighborhood in the 10+ years that I've lived there. We have no
sidewalks, no parks or trails, no streetlights, no MTC or commuter bus service, but now
perhaps we can have some peace and quiet. Closure of Co. Rd B at Hwy 280 would stem the
sometimes heavy flow of thru traffic making our area much quieter, much safer, and much
more exclusive. I'd expect an immediate boost in home values to result from this project.
A local-traffic-only Co. B would become more pedestrian and bicycle friendly, and the
droves of Rosedale shoppers (and shoplifters) would need to take an alternative route.
Emergency vehicle sirens and Hwy 280 temporary re-routes (in cases of accident) would also
be a thing of the past. I'm guessing that Hwy 280 traffic will also move along more
swiftly, without the need for noisey starts and stops (jake-braking is
terrible!) at the Co. Rd B stoplight.
I'd urge those who oppose this Co. B closure to re-think their position
- and to try to get beyond the minor inconvenience of no outlet to Hwy
280. With time, they'll be glad they did! Please share my comments
with those in attendance at the Dec. 2, 2002 City Council Meeting on this proposal.
Brian McCann
2131 Fulham Street
Roseville, MN
651.296.8397 (days)
