Staff liaison Carolyn Curti said the City will send letters <br /> 48 but that we cannot officially notify them until after the City Council takes action in January <br /> 49 2011. <br /> 50 <br /> 51 Chair Singleton said that he met with Police Chief Rick Mathwig to discuss how the HRC and <br /> 52 the Police can work together. Chair Singleton said they discussed the idea of creating seven <br /> 53 districts in which commissioners would act as liaisons for specific areas. Chair Singleton said he <br /> 54 planned to have the districting plan ready for the Commission to review in January. <br /> 55 <br /> 56 Chair Singleton said Chief Mathwig may attend the HRC meeting in January. <br /> 57 <br /> 58 3b. Program Planners Subcommittee <br /> 59 <br /> 60 Commissioner Gary Grefenberg said the subcommittee had met and they have two goals <br /> 61 getting the planning process for the workshop in place and developing an advisory committee to <br /> 62 set a framework on civic engagement. The goal is to engage citizens effectively in government. <br /> 63 <br /> 64 The subcommittee hopes to bring a recommendation to the January meeting for a consultant to <br /> 65 help with plan a civic engagement project. <br /> 66 <br /> 67 3c. Data Geeks Subcommittee <br /> 68 <br /> 69 Commissioner Peg Kennedy said the student data has just been released. In Roseville Area <br /> 70 Schools the free and reduced lunches have gone up from 32% of students to 41% of students, and <br /> 71 the percent of students of color increased by 3 <br /> 72 <br /> 73 3d. Finance Report <br /> 74 <br /> 75 Carolyn Curti reviewed the Human Rights budget. The Commission spent approximately $638 <br /> 76 from its budget in 2010. <br /> 77 <br /> 78 Commissioner Grefenberg asked if that meant $1,362 would go back to the general fund. Curti <br /> 79 clarified that it would. <br /> 80 <br /> 81 Commissioner Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Yates seconded the motion authorizing the <br /> 82 purchase of 12 binders and dividers to be used for the Civic Engagement event planning <br /> 83 committee. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br /> 84 <br /> 85 3e. Youth Commission Report <br /> 86 <br /> 87 Commissioner Seth Josephson distributed a list of possible youth awareness events that the <br /> 88 Commission could pursue. Among the ideas would be a blanket making lockdown in which <br /> 89 youths would make blankets to be distributed to homeless or people in need in the metro area; <br /> 90 group discussions at schools where speaker talks about different forms of human rights and how <br />
