had to rebuild the center board on my sailboat, and I also
noticed, being a biologist myself, that already as of yester-
day, swamp gasses are developing - sulfide and other gasses
due to the excessive organic matter in the lake. Consequently,
no fish can live there any more and I am sure other people in
the audience will support this contention but I think we should
not go into a very complicated expensive sewer system, but make
use of this little playground 1, 2 or 3 days a year and use it
as a settling basin to let the water soak in and also improve at
the same time the area under the shopping center across from the
apartment houses across from the Hamline Shopping Center to see
if that water that accumulates below those buildings can be
drained off too to relieve the pressure up here.

MRS. DEMOS: Where did you mean to drain the water off from
in front of the apartment buildings? Where would you drain it
to make that relief?

MR. JONAS: There's drainage now put in before the apart-
ment houses were put in and I think that drainage could be im-
proved to run this water up not into the lake (inaudible), but
into the small swamp that's completely undeveloped, you see. That
would relieve the pressure all the way through.

MR. GERALD ERICKSEN, 1201 Josephine Road: There are three
swamps (inaudible) by the big culvert.

MAYOR LINEBARGER: I would like to make one comment to what
you have said, sir. This Council received a petition with 35%
of the signatures on it and we, therefore, were required to order
a feasibility study and conduct this hearing. We did receive a
petition.

MR. LLOYD SATHER, 1396 Clarmar: I'm glad to see we have such
a solid foundation of Councilmen and Mayor and I sat here now and
listened to all the expenses our engineer was telling us here and
we all know it's costly so I'm really thankful that at least we
got part of your village hall building that is coming before the
sewer and of course we can't foot all the bills in this village
at one time and here on Clarmar here - now the only way I can see
with this little sewer - we never had no problem with sewer water
here on Clarmar from half way to Clarmar to Hamline.
