MAYOR LINEBARGER: I will now open the meeting to the
public and ask if there is any person in the audience that would
like to speak concerning this improvement. Anyone in the
audience?

MR. CAL DOUGLAS, representing the Slawik interests. Our
only question actually is if this is a typical assessment that
the City of Roseville makes on projects of this type. In other
words, where the Highway Department is separating the property
from their acquisition - is it a typical assessment where the
Highway Department pays for their portion and Roseville assesses
all the other costs against the property owner. Our only
question is, if that's the typical Roseville City assessment,
I guess we can't object.

~mYOR LINEBARGER: I'll ask Mr. Honchell to respond to
your question.

MR. HONCHELL: To the best of my knowledge, this has been
typical in the City of Roseville. There are many cases where
the Highway Department does not even pick up the cost of the
curb and gutter (inaudible> but in this case it's anticipated
that they will be absorbing the cost.

MR. DOUGLAS: Then we understand and that's fine.

MAYOR LINEBARGER: Anyone else in the audience that would
like to ba heard on this matter? Any questions on the part of
the Council?

COUNCILMAN BRENNAN: Suppose the Highway Department did
not go along with your proposal? Would then the total assess-
ment over and above the $25,000 go against the property owner?

MR. HONCHELL: It would, except this is not committing the
city to the actual construction. This is, in a sense, saying
that the construction is a good thing to do and we should move
forward to seeing that it happens. We still have to agree to
the final plans and agreement with the Highway Department on
the sharing of the cost.

MAYOR LINEBARGER: You'd be back to us if it was any dif-
ferent?

MR. HONCHELL: At this point it's possible for the city to
terminate the project if it desired because of cost or other
re.asons.

MAYOR LINEBARGER: Any further questions?
