guy to avoid an accident. So with the present traffic (inau-
dible) north of that ramp of 35W there on Cleveland Avenue,
therels no reason that we need for the handling the number of
vehicles a four lane facility. We need a four lane for safety.
If the community decided to establish no parking signs and
stiping that for a walking or bikeway or something in the out-
side lane and prohibit it from being used for anything butemer-
gency maneuvers I think the county would go right along with
that, but we need it for emergency, like the shoulders and the
ditches now. We could put a walkway on one side and eight foot
bikeway on the other although we prefer (inaudible) one way
bikeway on either side with the traffic and I think you might
come into a problem on Cleveland around the ramp as to how to
handle - maybe turn on C-2 and over to the bikeway.

MAYOR DEMOS: The county originates it and they ask the city
to conduct a hearing and we get blOodied.

MR. LEONARD: We asked to be heard on (inaudible). But a
recommendation on this bike thing should come from the community.

MR. AL SERVER, 3060 North Cleveland: The area in question
(inaudible) residential should there be (inaudible).

MAYOR DEMOS: One Council can never commit another Council
and if the new Council came in and put it in there's nothing I
can do.

MR. THOMAS STEINBRING, 3066 Cleveland: I don't feel we
need a four lane road. If we need a place for bicycles why
don't we just pave the shoulders.

MR. ROBERT THOMPSON. 3037 North Cleveland: This 52 foot
road, is it really designated for only two lanes of traffic?

MR. LEONARD: When we construct a roadway under the present
traffic volumes out there, we put roadway, curbs and turn the
traffic loose. There's no law against your parking in the out-
side lane like a residential road. If for some reason the peo-
ple don't want the parking there - they want a bikeway or what-
ever - that request would come to this Council who would make
a request to the county commissioners who would, if they agree,
have someone put up a "no parking" sign. So the people decide

10
