MR. BELL: There was a bill in the legislature once to give
Rooeville deoignated truck routes but it didn't pass. The City
of Roseville does not have power to designate truck routes on
county roads. The legislature could pass a bill saying that
truck routes could be designated by the city - to give us a
right to designate truck traffic on county roads.

COUNCILMAN GRAUEL: I don't think that would be an unrea-
sonable request - considering we have such a large percentage,
providing that the Council isn't arbitrary about setting the
routes.

MR. JOHN NELSON, 3096 Cleveland: Is there a method by
which this group of people on Cleveland can stop this from
being 52 feet wide.

MAYOR DEMOS: I don't think the county would build it other
than 52 feet wide, but we would accept it with there being
bicycle lanes on the outside which would thereby reduce the
travel width. That would be one way to do it.

MR. NELSON: As we stand here tonight I'm sure it's going
to be passed and it's surprising because I'm sure in the paper
it will say the Council met with the people in the area and
agreed to do this and that and I was wondering how is it that
the people in the area don't have anything to say. The only
thing I have against it is the trucks that will come through
there more than they do now.

MAYOR DEMOS: I don't think I would be for it if it were a
four lane highway but I can see a lot of advantages to having
a bicycle lane, particularly north of C-2 to liD" - if not the
whole way. People are riding bicycles along Fairview and I
can't see why they wouldn't do it on Cleveland.

MR. NELSON: I'm wondering why we call a meeting for the
people in the area and yet it doesn't seem they're going to
change it anyway.

MAYOR DEMOS: I wouldn't say that at all. You'r. saying
it right now.

MR. NELSON: But before we didn't have any say on the storm

l4
