MAYOR DEMOS: you're not opposed to Shorewood Lane, but
opposed to lighting in front of your house.

MR. LINDIG: That's right.

MAYOR DEMOS: That's always the way, and I formerly lived
on a street, and if they had put the light in front of my house
I would have been overjoyed. Terry, is three the minimum, or
how many can you put in?

MR. RRAMER: As far as the ornamental lights, that's a
package deal for this system. As far as the overhead system,
through, providing one lightl two lights or three on that
street, it's up to the Council. The Council can choose which-
ever they want.

MAYOR DEMOS: I don't understand your statement. Does
Northern States Power set the standard?

MR. KRAMER: Northern States Power sets the cost, and
that's based on installing three ornamental lights. Generally
the case is that the greater share of your cost - or substantial
cost - is your moving cost - moving the crew in and moving
them back out - not actually doing the work or materials, so
if the Council would request to have us investigate two orna-
mental lights we would have to go back to Northern States Power
and ask for a revision of their figures for the two lights.
However, since the overhead system does not cost the city
anything, Northern States Power will install and the city will
absorb the cost. The Council could ask for one or two over-
head lights.

MAYOR DEMOS: I'd like to point out that on Mr. Rivard's
petition there are six homes who do have the benefit of light
along Wheeler.

FROM THE AUDIENCE: I don't think that's relevant. I
think you have 26 property owners that are affectedl and it's
a matter of all of them sharing the benefits or lack of benefits.
They're all going to share the cost. Why they signed or didn't
sign, I think, is irrelevant.
