existing lights. The blue circles indicate the proposed lights
that would be put in with this project.

Since the petition asked for two investigations actually,
there are two alternates to this project. The first would be
to install the street lights as shown with the blue dots.
These street lights would be on a wooden pole, very similar
to what you see throughout the city, and would be fed by over-
head lines from the existing overhead electrical distribution
system located in general behind the lots.

The second alternate for ornamental lighting would be a
wooden pole. This pole would be a tapered pole, thicker at
the base, thinner at the top, and cored through. This pole
would be fed by underground wiring so no wiring would be
visable at all. Since this alternate system does require
some additional expense on the part of the city, this ad-
ditional expense would be assessed against the property
owners.

MAYOR DEMOS: Mr~ peterson.

MR. PETERSON: I'm Fred Peterson, pinch-hitting for Mr.
popovich. If there were the three standard type street lights
there would be no assessment, and if the ornamental lights
would be installed, there would be an assessment of $1,295.56
spread over 26 benefited lots, and the entire assessment would
be assessed in one year. It would work out to be approximately
$49.83 per lot. This would be assessed in 1978 for payment in
your 1979 taxes - just a one-time deal for $49.83 on each of
the lots. NO use spreading this over a longer period of time.

MAYOR DEMOS: Do we have any written communications?

MR. ANDRE: We have none.

MAYOR DEMOS: At this time I will open the hearing to the
public. I will ask that each person identify himself and give
his name and address.
