MR. LEO MEYER, 3069 Shorewood Lane: It gives me a great
deal of pleasure to be in favor of something. I prefer this
stance rather than opposing anything and everything that comes
along. I did not initiate the petition. However, I am heartily
in favor of it and I believe that lighting certainly, as is
evidenced in most sections of Roseville, does tend to cut down
on crime. In our particular area, I believe there have been
several break-ins - perhaps the Police Department can sub-
stantiate this, but from individuals I have heard of several
break-ins. It does get rather dark along there. There are
several ornamental gas lights and I understand that gas
lighting will be no longer a thing to be used after the end
of September.

There is another factor I think we should take into account,
and that is there are several widows living in that particular
neighborhood by themselves and lighting will be of benefit to
them when they come and go at night.

Again, Madam Mayor, I approve of the project, and even
if it's the overhead electrical set-up, I'm still in favor
of it. I believe that the one-time assessment of $49.83 is
very minimal for the added protection that will be given to
the people in the neighborhood. certainly $49.83 may seem
like a lot of money to some people, but I think those of us
that live in that neighborhood will think it's quite a bargain.
I think if you go out in the evening sometimes for a dinner
you will be paying that much or more. Thank you.

MAYOR DEMOS: Anyone else?

MR. JOSEPH RIVARD, 3083 Shorewood Lane: Point of order.
Would you rather hear the pros before the cons?

MAYOR DEMOS: We'll intersperse them. Am I to assume
you're a "con"?

MR. RIVARD: That's right.

MAYOR DEMOS: Any more in favor?
