Commissioners brainstormed ideas for the event: <br />Utilize ethnic /cultural food businesses in the Roseville community to get them involved and <br />provide an appetizer buffet of their food products. Commissioner McGehee volunteering to <br />contact the city's ethnic restaurant owners /managers to determine their interest <br />HRC Budget funds available <br />Invitations and how to make initial and follow -up contacts and how to provide business <br />contacts with information on the benefits of their involvement <br />Additional information available to download from the United Way website <br />Meeting room availability, logistics and set up (Olympic Room at the OVAL 2 rooms to <br />handle 300 total guests); registration/sign in area; booklet distribution area; food service area; <br />and "village" meeting area <br />Role of the United Way in the event <br />Chair Delmore noted the need to meet several times in August and September to keep planning <br />on track. <br />Commissioner McGehee noted that October had been chosen, but the specific date could be <br />determined once partners were involved; and the need to make partner contacts as soon as <br />possible before additional planning was done. <br />Ms. Rivamonte noted the need to put together a list of invitees; how to develop, divide and <br />process the invitations; and identification of contacts for potential partners at the planning table. <br />City Manager Malinen said he met with representatives of Northwestern College and he <br />mentioned the forum and their interest in becoming involved. <br />Commissioner McGehee noted her contacts with Presbyterian Homes representatives. <br />Commissioners discussed the next steps: <br />Commissioner McKenzie coordinate refinements on contact information and assignments <br />City Manager Malinen is a member of the Roseville Visitors Association. He will work with <br />RVA Executive Director Julie Larson on ways of networking <br />Involvement of the Parks and Recreation Commission and their volunteer sources <br />Finalization of the script to encourage participation. <br />Subcommittees <br />A discussion was held regarding subcommittees to work on issues between HRC meetings. <br />City Manager Malinen advised that the HRC was an advisory body to the City Council and <br />should not meet if more than a quorum was present, but assignment of subcommittees at a formal <br />HRC meeting would be appropriate and transparent for the public, and those meetings without a <br />quorum would not be subject to posting or open meeting law provisions, but would simply be <br />work groups to accomplish goals and tasks of the HRC. <br />Proposed Housing Ordinance <br />This discussion was tabled for a future meeting when Commissioner Venters was in attendance. <br />
