8

relationship to the street, but lower than across the street
to the north side. The south side of the street is lower than the
north.

COUNCILMAN KEHR: Would you be changing the grade of this
street - the elevation of the street in that area?

MR. HONCHELL: We will be raising the street somewhat in that
area.

councilman kehr; On both side of the street? They would
both benefit?

MR. HONCHELL: On the south side it's not a particular
problem. It will become flatter. On the north side, in some
cases it's what I consider (inaudible) and in those cases it
would become manageable.

COUNCILMAN KEHR: How much would you be raising the elevation
of the street - approximately?

MR. DOUG STRONG, Public Works Department: We're looking at
six inches ~ six to ten inches at the worst or best place - you're
looking at six to ten inches in the middle of the street and then
we have our gutter lines so it slopes back down six inches below
the center of the street.

COUNCILMAN KEHR: What would be the drop in elevation from
the homes to the street, roughly, on the south side?

MR. STRONG: On the south side the driveways are minimal
grade. You don't have the steep driveway.

COUNCILMAN KEHR: What would be the difference in elevation?

MR. HONCHELL: Only a drop of a foot or so.

MR. STRONG: From the garage, about a foot.

COUNCILMAN KEHR: What is it on the north side?

MR. STRONG: I don't have all the way to the garage because
some of those homes went quite a way back, but the one at 407 and
40l have lO% grades now.

COUNCILMAN KEHR: How far back are those homes?

MR. STRONG: They're - to the garage, I believe 72 or 73
feet from the existing edge of the street.

MAYOR DEMOS: How wide is the pavement now?

MR. STRONG: Thirty feet in most places.
