9

talking about $35 a foot and I'm not talking total cost,
I'm talking about that one-fourth and I'm afraid we'd have
some people on that street really complaining and I think
some of the people that signed this petition would object
spending - what are the lots,' 90 feet?

MR. PERMAN: Or a hundred.

MAYOR DEMOS: So anywhere from $2700 to $3,000. I'm
not so sure they would want it that way then. I don't think
the west end - like I said, it's just covering it up and
each time it covers up a bigger amount so I guess that's what
disturbs me is that I'm not sure (inaudible) may be scheduled
for four years but I don't know if it would hold out that
long.

MR. PERMAN: But it's a traffic regulator.

MAYOR DEMOS: I went down there about ten days ago, and I
have a pet peeve in children's toys. If I had my way they'd
go off the market. It's called "big wheels". One came out
of a driveway and there are not many hills, but there's an
incline. Fortunately I was going about 12 miles an hour.
I didn't go two lots and one came out of the driveway from
the left. If I were a parent living on Skillman my children
wouldn't be in "big wheels"anywhere except my basement or
garage. They would not be coming down those driveways.

MR. PERMAN: I feel that's a dangerous situation but
that's very common-place in residential areas and unfortunately
it happens on the street, but some day someone will get hit
in the general area that you've been talking about.

MAYOR DEMOS: Those were preschoolers and they should
not have been out there.

MR. PERMAN: The plea I would have to the Council is you
give the street the same consideration that you did very early
in the history of Roseville at the time when an arterial stop
was considered on Snelling Avenue. It was considered at
one time (inaudible) at the end of Snelling and fortuitously
it was moved up to McDonald's (inaudible) Skillman did
connect to Snelling Avenue.

MAYOR DEMOS: What are you suggesting?

MR. PERMAN: I'm just asking the Council to act in
preserving the residential characteristics of that neighborhood
and I'm afraid if we go to a 36 foot street it will take it
