4

of saying people won't be able to use the alley. I agree there
is a definite drop-off and these people, particularly the first
gentleman, are getting their service and access from other roads.

MR. MC DONOUGH: Are you going to put a barrier there too?

MR. HONCHELL: We were not proposing to do that on Lot 12,
but would consider it.

}lR. MC DONOUGH: That would make it more useless.

MR. HONCHELL: We're concerned about safety.

MR. STRONG: Lot 12 is 80.08 feet.

MR. HONCHELL: So it's approximately 80 feet times $2.50.

MAYOR DEMOS: More like a little under $200. Are you facing
Glenwood then?

MR. RATNASWAMY: Yes. I have a pie-shaped lot - number 13.

MR. HONCHELL: This hearing is not to determine who gets
assessed how much.

MAYOR DEMOS: The assessment hearings occur in the year after
the work is completed. Would that be 1981 for this? And if you
feel you have no benefit, you can again make that plea at that
point and this will all be looked at in that period of time.
Anyone else that wishes to be heard about this?

MRS. MARY K. HALE, 401 Woodruff Avenue: I never use the
alley. I have lived there 32 years and I have no reason to use
it and I don't feel I should be assessed for it and if they're going
to widen the alley there's a slope on my side and I wonder if they're
going to cut back into the hill and somehow~here will be a drop
there and the soil will erode on to the road if it isn't held back
somehow.

MR. HONCHELL: The proposed width, if you look on both
north/south Qegs, is supposed to be 12 feet of improvement.
That's approximately what is there now. We feel we could do this
with fairly minimal impact into the side slopes.

MRS. HALE How does that assessment work? Is it front
footage or side? I'm on the side where the long alley is, plus
the front. How would that work?

MR. STRONG: That's 50 feet.

MRS. HALE: It's just the front footage.

MR. STRONG: It's back here, and 12 feet of the long side
so it's actually 62.5 feet.
