Safety Residents should use caution at all times while driving through the construction zone and be alert for moving equipment, holes, trenches and other hazards in the work zone. Your assistance in maintaining a safe work area is important. The noise and dust created by construction traffic make it difficult for workers to watch onlookers. Heavy equipment operators must concentrate on the job at hand and may not notice children playing near or behind equipment. Please remind children to stay clear of the construction area and equipment both during working and non workinq hours. Survey Markers: In order to perform the project construction, engineers place a series of survey markers (wooden stakes) for the Contractor to measure from. Typically, these markers are offset several feet from the object or point they refer to so that they are not disturbed during the construction process. As a result, these offset markers are often placed well into residents' yards. Please notify Dean Findell, Project Coordinator, of any stakes that have been removed. Utility Flags: To protect against underground utility damage, the Contractor will be calling in utility locates. This is required for anyone digging a hole, whether it is to plant a tree or rebuild a street. Xcel Energy, Comcast and Qwest will locate their underground utilities by spray painting and placing flags in the boulevard. Please do not remove these flags. School Bus stops: The City is coordinating this project with the Roseville school district. The project will start before school lets out for the summer, and will still be in its final stages when the school year starts next fall. The Contractor will be made aware of bus stops and will be required to minimize disruptions. Garbage pick up The construction work should not impact your garbage pick- up. Mail Delivery The construction work should not significantly impact your mail delivery. A bank of mailboxes will be installed at a nearby corner. Once the banks are installed, mailboxes will be removed by the contractor and given to you to store for the duration of the project. Following construction, your mailbox will be reinstalled as close as possible to its original location or a location specified by you. Assessments A portion of the costs for this project will be assessed. The Feasibility Report for this project set the proposed assessment rate at $48.66. Final assessment amounts are determined based on actual construction costs and will be determined following an assessment hearing in the Fall of 2012. The bids that we received for this project were about 20% lower than the feasibility report estimate. Property owners will have the option to either pay the assessments up front in October 2012, or have them added to their property taxes at the market interest rate. The first installment of the assessment would be due with property taxes in Spring 2013. Contact Us!
