This is one of the reasons that I was for the program and have
signed up. I'm of the opinion too that it would do a little bit
for my property. I think that if we were to go ahead with the
project right now - I think the price is right and I would like to
see it go in. I'm very much for the project.

MAYOR DEMOS: Anyone else from Merrill Street?

DEBRA KAUFHOLD, 2875 Merrill: I stand opposed. I've
lived all my life in Roseville and I've come to like - I haven't
lived here, I just recently moved in about one year ago - but I
love the trees and although my yard probably wouldn't be affected
too much, since I have about 16 trees on it - but I probably would
lose at least one and it's probably my favorite one. The fact
that they talk about their kids - it is true. I see them all the
time on their bikes. With the curbs in the way, it would be kind
of difficult for them to get out of the way of cars and such.
The costs might be right for some of you folks, but for me - I
really can't afford it. (Inaudible) figured over IS years, it
would be a lot for me to handle right now. The trees are the main
thing. Maybe with the 29 foot one it might be better, but the
cost probably would be the same (inaudible). As far as speeding
cars - yes, they are speeding. I'm right at the corner of C-2
and Merrill and all you hear all night are these cars racing up
and down the street. Since they fixed up C-2, they put C-2
down farther since I moved in, and it has increased traffic a
bit. When I bought the house, there was - the street was a dead
end at C-2 and Merrill. I really had no idea that that was going
in, although I probably would have moved in any way. I wanted a
house in Roseville because I've lived here all my life. I
really didn't want to live in the cities. I lived there, on the
east side, for two years and I really didn't like it. I didn't
like the curbs, I didn't like the sidewalks, and I didn't like
all the trees that they chopped down. I really think it would
be a shame to lose all those trees and put the gutters in and
possibly lose a kid because he can't get up and away from a car.

MR. BRYAN LaVOY, 28lS Merrill: I stand in favor of the
project, primarily because I feel that curb and gutter - which I
choose to call an improvement - is something that we are going
to --we need some kind of street improvement on Merrill Street.
I believe that today we can take advantage of the 2S% charge to
(inaudible) and, as well, take advantage of the economic conditions
and get a good price on it. I think an improvement is inevitable
and it will happen and - as opposed to waiting any longer. My
primary reason is - I'm opposed to waiting any longer.

MAYOR DEMOS: Anyone else?

MR. DALE CHARBONEAU, 28S2 Merrill: Is there some reason
they have to have standing curbs in lieu of the same type of
curbing that they used on Merrill Street north of C-2?

MR. HONCHELL: No, that's the design preference. We feel
that that is really - from your standpoint - a long-term better
curb. We feel it better delineates where the roadway is and is

18
