MAYOR DEMOS: I would like to say that I hope you people
don't think that we never go out and look at some of these. I'm
finding it difficult to believe what I'm hearing. I went down
there at 7:00 tonight, the block between C-2 and Terrace Drive
is in very bad shape. It is extremely bad from Judith to Wood-
hill Drive. There are two huge repair spots, just almost mounded -
in other words, where it's been repeatedly patched - between
Judith and Terrace Drive. I do not believe that it's in that
good of shape.

MR. HERBERT LYSNE, 2787 Merrill: I'm opposed to it.

MAYOR DEMOS: Anyone else?

MR. JAMES FOLEY, 2717 Merrill: When the petition was
brought around, I was informed that it was only to get to the
hearing. I hear you people saying that the vote goes according
to the percentage of homeowners that signed it. That1s not what
I was told.

MAYOR DEMOS: If a petition comes in from 35% of the
affected property, we must hold a hearing.

MR. JAMES FOLEY: Yes, but do you vote according to the
percentage?

MAYOR DEMOS: No, but I'm saying we must hold a hearing.

MR. JAMES FOLEY: I understand that. That was the reason
I signed the petition. Now, from what I've heard here, I hear
people saying that 40%, 50%, 60% went for it, so that's what
(inaudible). That's not the reason some people signed it.
That's not the reason I signed it. I personally have no trouble
with Merrill, seeing how I live on the corner. I don't travel
very far on Merrill. But I hate to see a lot of trees get torn
out too. How wide is the street at my point right there at 2717?

MR. HONCHELL: I guess I couldn't specifically tell you
what it is right there. The report I have only gives it in
general width of 2S to 30 feet, depending on where you are on
the street.

MR. JAMES FOLEY: So I could be at 25 feet right there at
my house.

MR. HONCHELL: It could be.

MR. JAMES FOLEY: What you're saying is that you're go~ng
to take five to seven feet of my property?

MR. HONCHELL:
About half of that.
were 25 feet and it
or three and a half

It probably wouldn't be five to seven feet.
Generally speaking (inaudible). If you
went to 32, that would be another seven feetr
feet on.each side.

MR. JAMES FOLEY: Is there an easement there that I don't

own?

8
