Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,April 25,2011
Page 9
The applicants noted the differences in their operation and that of Granite City,
respectively that of a micro brewery versus a pub; and their proposed operations
in accordance with state statute. In their recent informal survey on Facebook, the
applicants noted the strong interest in the State of MN for local products, and the
many interested people who had responded supporting their concept.
Public Comment
Mark Famark
As beer enthusiast, Mr. Famark, in hearing about this on Facebook and comments
that such an operation may deter people from buying beer from off-sale liquor
stores; opined that there was something special about local breweries, and that he
habitually sought them out. Mr. Famark opined that there was something special
about the intimacy and experience with brewing beer locally, similar to that of
home brewing experiences; and offered his enthusiastic support; further opining
that growler sales are vital to get more people interested and knowledgeable.
Jason Elvie,Four Firkins, St. Louis Park
Mr. Elvie noted his attendance to support Pour Decisions Brewing Company,
LLC; and opined that if they started selling growlers, it would enhance the City's
and area's beer tourism. Mr. Elvie noted the considerable interest across the na-
tion and world of local breweries; and opined that local liquor stores should em-
brace this concept, given the potential for increased tourism.
Sean Horton
As a St. Paul resident, who spent considerable time in the Roseville community to
take advantage of its amenities and retail community, Mr. Horton advised that he
had been a big beer fan for some time; and offered his enthusiastic interest in see-
ing Pour Decisions licensed and selling growlers, and keeping their business in
Roseville..
Lindsey Kimball
As a home brewer and "beer geek," Ms. Kimball expressed her support for grow-
ler sales and the growing beer culture, opining that it provided a great atmosphere
and would be a great addition to Roseville.
Leslie Horton
In referencing the social network of those beer lovers interested in smaller brewe-
ries, Ms. Horton noted that Minneapolis currently held a stronger market, and by
having Pour Decisions Brewing located in Roseville, it would provide an oppor-
tunity to bring people across the river to enjoy St. Paul and the Roseville area.
Mayor Roe closed the Public Hearing at 7:42 p.m.
12.
