Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />May 10, 2011 <br />Draft Minutes <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />Commissioner Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Kennedy seconded a motion to spend up to <br />$175 for signage and pencils to be distributed at the parade. The Commission gave Curti the <br />authority to purchase pencils that would have the Roseville Human Rights Commission and a <br />message about promoting the mission of the HRC. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />Curti said the Roseville Housing and Redevelopment Authority (RHRA) was interested in finding a <br />partner at the parade in which partners could pool resources and promote each other. <br />Commissioners discussed ways the two groups could work together, with the HRC promoting <br />strong neighborhoods that welcome diversity, and the HRA promoting strong neighbors that are <br />environmentally friendly. <br />Commissioner Kennedy moved and Commissioner Kaying Thao seconded motion to collaborate <br />with the RHRA in the 2011 Rose Parade. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />3d. Financial Report <br />Curti reviewed the budget that hadn't changed since March, noting that the commission authorized <br />expenditures earlier in the meeting. These would be noted when expenditures were made. <br />4. Business Items <br />4a. League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions Monthly Meeting Report <br />Curti said that Commissioner Thelma McKenzie had a conflict and was unable to attend the <br />meeting, but she had provided information from the League of Minnesota Human Rights <br />Commissions, including information about Kevin Lindsey, the new Commissioner of the Minnesota <br />Department of Human Rights. <br />5. Public Comment <br />No one appeared to comment. <br />6. Future Agenda Items <br />Curti said that student commissioners are appointed in conjunction with the school year, so their <br />terms expire June 2011. The Commission will discuss whether to recommend the current students <br />(if interested) to continue or whether they recommend the Council open up the application process. <br />Commissioners asked about getting specific census data. <br />Commissioners asked about Youth Commissioner Anthony Barrett's efforts to bring student groups <br />to visit the commission. <br />Commissioners agreed to lay over the election of the Commission Vice Chair until another meeting. <br />
