Roseville Hunan lights Commission <br />May 10, 2011 <br />Draft Minutes <br />Page 2 of 5 <br />48 representatives from the Parks and Recreation, Planning and Public Works, Environment and <br />49 Transportation Commissions are on the task force,, and the Ethics and Police Civil Services <br />o Commissions were asked to send a representative. <br />1 <br />52 Commissioner Kennedy said she believed the City did outstanding outreach, noting the Parks and <br />3 Recreation Master Plan and the visioning process. <br />4 <br />5 Commissioner Grefenberg said the task force would consider a pilot project in a neighborhood, <br />56 hosting a community meeting, limitations and reasonable expectations of a city. The community <br />57 meeting would be an opportunity to gather input about developing neighborhood identity, ideas to <br />58 increase civic engagement and ways to improve giving the public notice of events and activities. <br />59 <br />60 Commissioner Kennedy raised questions about whether there is a problem. She said the City goes <br />61 beyond following rules and regulations of notifying the connnunity. <br />2 <br />63 Commissioner Grefenberg asked that Commissioner Kennedy reserve judgment until after <br />64 recommendations come out. <br />65 <br />66 Commissioner Erisbois said the task force is looking for ways to make things more user friendly <br />67 and create a way for neighborhoods to have input before decisions are nude. She said she believed <br />8 the city can do a better job in outreach. The city does not currently reach everyone. <br />9 <br />70 Co Grefenberg said the task force will draft a report to give to the Council and <br />71 Commissioners, work with staff to develop materials for distribution and initiate cooperation with <br />72 bight to Unite to get into neighborhoods. <br />73 <br />74 Commissioner Grefenberg stated the first Civic Engagement Task Force meeting is Tuesday, May <br />75 17 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. <br />76 <br />77 Commissioner Grefenberg reviewed the Program Planning Committee reconnuendations: <br />78 <br />79 All persons who applied be appointed <br />80 Commission Citizens League and LVN appointees do not need to fill out an application <br />81 Mire an assistant to provide clerical support at a cost to not exceed Soo <br />82 Expend up to 00 of Commission funds, including not more than half for food and <br />$3 beverages <br />84 Admm' I'stration Department provide publicity including posting information on the City's <br />85 website <br />86 Hold at least one community meeting to discuss issues with the public <br />87 <br />88 Commissioner Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Brisbois seconded approval of the <br />89 reco <br />90 <br />
