Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />May 10, 2011 <br />Draft Minutes <br />Page 3 of 5 <br />1 Carolyn Curti asked for clarification about spending money up to 150 for refreshments at the task <br />force meetings, noting that the city does not provide refreslunents at commission or council <br />93 meetings. <br />94 <br />95 Commissioner Grefenberg noted several examples of city meetings providing food, including Ethics <br />96 training and conununity forums. <br />97 <br />98 Commissioner Kennedy raised concerns about spending tax dollars for planning meetings, <br />99 <br />100 Conunissioner Grefenberg amended his motion, changing the dollar amount to not exceed $50 for <br />101 food at the Civic Engagement task force meetings, unless city policy prohibited such an <br />102 expenditure. <br />103 <br />104 Commissioner Grefonberg renewed his notion. Motion prevailed 3/0/1 with Commissioner <br />105 Kennedy abstaining. <br />106 <br />107 Commissioner Grefenberg reviewed the second subcommittee recommendation to sponsor a <br />108 community fo on issues of civil rights for gays and lesbians this calendar year, with a program <br />109 to be developed by the Project 515 Educational Campaign. <br />110 <br />Commissioners discussed tuning and coordination, including working with other area commissions <br />112 to support the efforts. <br />113 <br />Commissioner Kennedy moved and Commissioner Brisbois seconded motion to host a community <br />115 forum on civil rights for gays and lesbians and to work with neighboring con='ssions to host the <br />116 event. Internal Affairs <br />119 <br />120 Commissioner Grefenberg asked that the election of vice -chair be moved until after Chair Singleton <br />121 arrived. <br />122 <br />123 3c. Youth Commissioner Report <br />124 <br />125 Commissioner Grefenberg asked Carolyn Curti to provide information. Curti noted that all tbree of <br />126 the youth representatives contacted her about other commitments and could not attend the meeting. <br />127 Commissioner Josephson had dropped off ideas stickers or magnets or other uses at the Dose Parade <br />128 to help promote the Commission. Commissioner Kennedy recommended buying pencils since kids <br />129 need and use there. <br />130 <br />131 Commissioners discussed raising visibility, cost of pencils and importance of having our name <br />132 visible. <br />1_14 Commissioner Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Kennedy seconded a motion to spend up to <br />1 $175 for signage and pencils to be distributed at the parade.
