COUNCILY~ KERR: That's why I wanted that knoll cut out of
there and moved up towards Victoria, since you're going to
excavate there anyway, for that holding pond. Then you might
just as well cut that knoll out and move it up.

MR. HONCHELL: Moving this little knob out toward the
Victoria side is not a major cost.

V~YOR DEMOS: I will now open the hearing for the recon-
struction of Aglen Street from Transit Avenue to Brooks Avenue -
P-82-5. Are there any written statements?

}ffi. NORTH: The only one that we would have would be the
one that was submitted here by the gentleman from Barbara and
Richard St. Dennis indicating that they support the project.

MR. POPOVICH: The cost of this project is $38,472.19 and
there are 1,l03.41 assessable front feet. If you divided the
two figures it comes out to $34.87 per foot - 25% of that is
$8.72, which you multiply by the width of your lot. I would
recommend that this be spread over that same ten year period
that you have with the other projects.

MAYOR DEMOS: I might say, regarding the statement in that
letter where they would hold the right to withdraw their support
should the cost increase - if the costs come in in excess of
25% over the estimate, then we have to hold another hearing.
We already have four people that have spoken for the paving of
'Aglen - anyone else who wishes to speak on the repaving of
Aglen?

MR. CARL ANDERSON, 917 Transit Avenue: I favor it, but
while I don't live on the street, I feel it would be an improve-
ment to the neighborhood. I want to address another question
to Mr. Honchell - some of the neighbors in the neighborhood -
there on Chatsworth - I talked to some on Chatsworth - and
they wish to petition for a street improvement at this time.
Would it be more eCQnomical, if they would petition at this
time, to include it with the same project? Would it be to
their advantage?

MR. HONCHELL: well, the larger within reason that the
ultimate contract is, generally the cheaper it is for all
pieces by scale, although it's not giant-or noti~eable - it
is minor, but. it's there. As far as the petitions - if anybody
on these streets wishes to have their road done at the same
time - the process would be to contact the engineering staff,
who would give them a petition and a little booklet as to ,how
petitions are circulated, how hearings are held - although
everybody in the neighborhood is probably an expert now -
offer to meet with them at a neighborhood meeting or up here
qt the City Hall if their neighbors want to to help explain
it like we did on Aglen. If they want to, they could also
get it done at the same time and the same contract as long as
this happened relatively soon - within the next few weeks.

13
